Happy Holidays From The Economic Populist

It's that time of year to ring in the joy and revel in festivities.  Yet another year has passed and economic injustice, inequality and the great financial crisis taxpayer ripoff is further in the historical dust heap and buried under the corporate propaganda political rug.  It's also time to view funny economic cartoons.

Just another Day of More Bad Trade Deals and Elected Officials Who Don't Care

Americans Don't Want It.  Analysis Shows It Hurts People.  Yet Congress and This President Could Care Less.  What's fascinating is how we've seen this dance before and no matter how many put up a fight, more disastrous trade treaties get passed and enacted into law anyway.

Welcome to 2015

Happy New Year From The Economic Populist!  Another day, another year.  We hope 2015 is finally the time of the middle class.  Will finally wages increase, will jobs and careers recover?  So far that has not been the case, although 2014 is when hope for U.S. workers glimmered on the horizon.  We've survived the three biggest days to die in the United States, Christmas, Boxing day and New Years.  Now an onslaught of Republicans will take over Congress, so we can be assured any legislation to help the U.S. middle class will not be enacted.

China Trade Deficit Has Cost the United States 3.2 Million Jobs

If anyone believes offshore outsourcing jobs is passé and not impacting U.S. labor markets think again.  The Economic Policy Institute has published a new study showing America has lost millions of jobs to China's cheap labor market.  From 2001 to 2013, the massive trade deficit with China has cost the United States 3.2 million jobs.

American Workers Put Last in Obama's Amnesty

The word is Obama at all costs is going to grant work permits along with amnesty to millions here illegally in the United States.  This is when the jobs market still has not recovered.  The latest leak shows Obama plans on giving amnesty and work permits to another 4.5 million illegals and U.S. permanent resident status to over half a million imported workers currently on guest worker Visas.

The Browbeat and Baffle Political Battle

It never ceases to disgust, horrify and amaze how people are hoodwinked by marketing, media and advertizing.  A textbook case is election 2014.  States have measures on the ballot, and Oregon has one that big business in particular doesn't like.  As a result the campaign to defeat it has become the costliest in Oregon history as big business pounds the airwaves with their deep pocket funded misleading and manipulative ads.

Graphing American Wage Statistics Is Not a Pretty Picture

The rich get richer and income inequality in America continues to grow in 2013.  The wage situation improved from 2012, but it's still pretty bad.  The median wage was $28,031.02 in 2013 a paltry 1.9% increase from 2012.  While the ratio of median wage to average wage improved, the 110 super rich are now earning 2595 times more than average workers.
