The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is a massive corporate lobbyist group and characterized by Elliot Spitzer as a Chamber of Horrors. I couldn't agree more. Bad policies, bad legislation putting the entire nation, economy at risk is the history of this lobbying group.
Spitzer outlines a game plan to rid ourselves of this vile organization. Spitzer suggests public pension funds put pressure on companies to stop their membership to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, for once starving the lobbyist beast by cutting off membership fees. Spitzer argues that these publicly traded companies which public pension funds often invest in, are paying the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to block legislation which is against these very state pension funds interests.
It appears Obama is going to try to push financial regulatory reform again, although unfortunately the administration's plan wants to make the Federal Reserve a super regulator with expanded powers.
What is more interesting to note is how the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is attacking the Consumer Financial Protection Agency. Oh yes, lord forbid if there was regulation against ripping off the general public with credit cards, mortgages, banking fees and loans. (Note the Washington post got the agency title wrong as well as miscategorizes the Say on Pay Bill).
This is just sickening. Mark Gitenstein, a lobbyist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, to be nominated to head the Justice Department.
The leading candidate to head the Justice Department office that oversees legal policy and judicial nominations recently has been a lobbyist for several business clients, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and would require a waiver from the Obama administration's recently imposed ethics rules
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce should be stripped, legally denied the ability to use United States in their title.
In a history of lobbying demands against the United States, including businesses, they are at it once again, trying to strip out provision from U.S. taxpayer money buying U.S. made materials, goods.
One must love our Benedict Arnold corporations. In the Economic Stimulus package currently being crafted in Congress, the U.S. chamber of Commerce, G.E. and Catepiller are trying to strip out the Buy American provisions in the bill.
Ok, the U.S. is in trouble and we are going to use U.S. taxpayer funds to stimulate our economy....
therefore our U.S. corporations try to fight support of U.S. manufacturing, goods, raw materials and demand they do not have to buy materials and supplies from other American companies.
In Corporate Citizen - an Oxymoron?, are some policy recommendations to get our corporations and businesses in line with the United States national interest.
